Eligible applicants with innovative business ideas or support from a designated Canadian organization may establish businesses and participate in Canada’s economy.
Start-up Visa Program
The Start-Up Visa Program is designed for entrepreneurs with innovative, scalable, and competitive business ideas who have the skills and potential to build businesses in Canada outside Quebec. Applicants may apply individually or as part of a group of up to five (5) owners, provided they meet the following requirements:
- Qualifying business: Each applicant must hold at least 10% of the voting rights, and the applicants together must hold more than 50% of the total voting rights in the business.
- Letter of support: Obtain a letter of support from a designated organization, such as a business incubator, venture capital fund, or angel investor group, approved by IRCC to invest in or support start-ups.
- Language requirements: Meet the minimum language proficiency requirements in English or French.
- Settlement funds: Demonstrate sufficient funds to support yourself and your family upon arrival in Canada, based on family size.
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) –Entrepreneur Streams
Provincial and territorial entrepreneur streams under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allow experienced businesspeople to start or purchase a business in a specific province or territory.
Eligibility Requirements:
Business ownership or management experience
Language proficiency; and
Job creation and economic benefit requirements
Minimum net worth and investment thresholds
